Know the game. Play it right.
Grass Volleyball
If you contact any portion of the net during play, it is a fault.
The standards (poles) are the antennae. If the ball touches or passes over the poles, it is out.
Entering any adjacent court that is scheduled for competition during play is a fault.
No finger action over the net, including redirecting on a block, tipping, etc.
Beach standards apply for hand setting, noting that spin is a possible indicator of a double, but it is NOT inherently a double. There is NO RULE if a ball spins X number of times that it is a double.
Open-hand receive on a serve is not allowed.
Finger action (beach dig) allowed for first contact on a hard-driven ball. Hard-driven is defined as a ball you don't have time to think about.
If a player goes under the net during play, it is not a fault, unless contact is made that interferes with the player's ability to play the ball.
SPORTSMANSHIP
All players are expected to demonstrate and good sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike conduct — including taunting opponents, or aggressive behavior — will result in a warning. Repeat offenses may lead to ejection from the tournament without a refund.
Captains are responsible for the behavior of their team. All disputes should be handled calmly and directed to the tournament director for final resolution.
Teams are seeded into pools. Every team plays each pool opponent. Records determine bracket seeding.
Single or double elimination brackets based on pool results. Win or go home.
Multiple divisions from recreational to competitive. Play at the level that fits your team.
Now that you know the rules, sign up for our next tournament and put your skills to the test.
